Russia announces major military buildup and nuclear modernization

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a comprehensive new state arms program aimed at modernizing the country's military capabilities. During a meeting with the Military-Industrial Commission, Putin emphasized that the program will focus on the mass production of advanced weaponry, including the reinforcement of the nuclear triad, enhanced air defense systems, precision weapons, drones, and military technology in space.

Putin justified the buildup by citing increasing threats from NATO's expansion and the growing military presence of Western powers. He noted that the Strategic Missile Forces have already achieved a 92% modernization rate. While outlining these defensive priorities, Putin denied that Russia has any aggressive intentions toward Europe, stating that Moscow is prepared to cooperate and restore connections with European neighbors.

Additionally, the Russian leader criticized Western involvement in Ukraine, alleging that Western nations are using Ukrainians as 'cannon fodder' to serve their own geopolitical interests and prolong the conflict.
