Vladimir Putin reviews five-year work of Russia's State Duma

President Vladimir Putin met State Duma members at the Kremlin to review the lower house's legislative record over the past five years. He summarised the "large‑scale legislative work" of the eighth Duma, during which 1,147 laws aimed at protecting citizens were adopted, accounting for about 38.5% of all enacted measures. The legislation covered health, cyber‑fraud prevention, spiritual values, family support, public health and education, with 61 laws supporting families, 71 on health and 80 on education.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin highlighted that the chamber had adopted 2,980 federal laws in its current term and stressed the passage of roughly 250 anti‑sanction measures. He called for continued unity as the Duma approaches its ninth convocation, scheduled after the 2026 parliamentary elections.
