Vladimir Putin says it is too early to decide on a 2030 presidential run

Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters at the 29th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that he is not yet ready to decide whether to seek re‑election in 2030, even though the constitution permits another term. He said only God knows how long his health will allow him to serve and emphasized that Russia must focus on current challenges, including the war in Ukraine.

Putin reiterated that a peace settlement would require Ukraine to cede the remaining part of the eastern Donbas, a condition Kyiv rejects. He also defended Russia’s relationship with Iran, expressed hope for a swift resolution to the Iranian crisis, and rejected accusations of Russian cyber‑attacks against Europe. The remarks were mirrored in a Hindi‑language report that highlighted the President’s dismissal of health rumors and his focus on Russia’s strategic goals.

The statements come amid ongoing speculation about Putin’s longevity in power and the country’s political future.
