Vladimir Putin sets conditions for Ukraine peace talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia is prepared for peace negotiations regarding the conflict with Ukraine, but only on the basis of “realities formed on the battlefield.” He characterized current peace proposals as “exotic” and “unacceptable” for Moscow.

Putin criticized recent Ukrainian missile and drone attacks targeting Russian civilian facilities and logistics infrastructure, describing them as a “new adventure” by the Kyiv administration and its Western supporters intended to achieve a strategic victory within 40 days. In response, Putin noted that Russia has increased strikes against Ukraine’s military-industrial complex, including facilities in Kyiv, as a countermeasure to attacks on Russian logistics.

Furthermore, the Russian leader claimed that Ukraine has “opened Pandora’s box” by targeting Russian assets, warning that Russia would respond by targeting sensitive sectors of the Ukrainian economy, including agricultural production.
