Vladimir Putin visits Novosibirsk under strict security

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Novosibirsk on the night of August 10–11, marking a recent trend of increased regional travel following months of staying near Moscow. To ensure his security, authorities implemented strict movement restrictions throughout the city.

Residents were advised to stay indoors during the presidential motorcade's passage, stay away from windows, and refrain from using electronic or optical devices. Students at Novosibirsk State University were also restricted to their dormitories, with movement across the campus limited by barriers. In the Akademgorodok academic town, the rental of electric scooters was restricted on main streets.

Security measures included positioning police officers every 50 meters along the president's route and conducting rapid urban improvements, such as repairing sidewalks, facades, and laying new lawns. Putin's itinerary includes visits to the scientific center in Koltsovo and the university campus. These heightened security protocols follow reports suggesting increased concerns regarding assassination attempts.
