Vlado Šestan explores luxury wine tourism in Alsace

Vlado Šestan, traveling with members of the Relais & Châteaux association, recently visited high-end hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants in the Alsace region of France. The visit highlighted the intersection of gastronomy, hospitality, and wine tourism.

During the stay at five-star establishments such as La Cheneaudiere, Hotel des Berges, and Le Chambard, guests experienced multi-course dinners paired with fine wines, with costs ranging from 500 to 700 euros per person. The clientele primarily consisted of French, German, and Swiss visitors seeking premium culinary experiences.

Šestan noted the distinction between standard tourism and high-spending wine tourism, observing that while regions like Slavonija, Međimurje, and Zagorje have potential, they require more than just quality wine to attract such demographics. He also visited a cognac distillery in Cognac to observe the production processes of master blender Pierre Vaudon.
