Vlatko Čančar faces surgery after meniscus injury
Slovenian basketball player Vlatko Čančar has suffered a new injury, sustaining a medial meniscus tear during training with San Pablo Burgos. The veteran forward is scheduled to travel to Munich on Monday for surgery, though the exact duration of his recovery remains uncertain.
Čančar, a former 49th overall NBA draft pick for the Denver Nuggets, has faced a series of significant health challenges since 2022. His recent medical history includes a broken foot, a wrist injury, and torn anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee, as well as surgery on his left knee.
After spending six seasons in the NBA, including a championship season with Denver, Čančar returned to European basketball. Following a brief, injury-plagued stint with Olimpia Milano, he signed with San Pablo Burgos to revitalize his career, but this latest injury threatens his ability to play this season.
