Vlatko Andonovski named Chicago Stars chief soccer officer

The Chicago Stars have appointed former United States women’s national team coach Vlatko Andonovski as the club’s new chief soccer officer. The move comes following Andonovski’s recent departure from the Kansas City Current.

Andonovski, a two-time NWSL Coach of the Year, will lead the Stars’ technical efforts, which include appointing a technical director and a head coach, as well as improving the roster for the 2027 season. The franchise has faced significant leadership turnover, having previously dismissed general manager Richard Feuz in May and head coach Martin Sjögren in August. The team currently sits at the bottom of the NWSL standings with a 5-17-2 record.

Stars president Karen Leetzow stated that the club sought a “proven winner” to help rebuild the sporting structure. Andonovski noted that the decision to join Chicago was driven by the club’s vision and values, describing the role as an exciting project to build a club’s identity.
