VLC Media Player releases version 3.0.24 with security updates

VLC Media Player, developed by the VideoLAN project, has released version 3.0.24. This update includes over 130 security fixes for the player and its integrated libraries.

Technical improvements in this release include an upgrade of FFmpeg from version 4.4 to 8.1.2 and updates to 49 third-party libraries. New features include the addition of ATRAC3 and ATRAC9 decoding, support for CEA-708 closed captions in MP4 files, and a listener mode for SRT along with public key authentication options for SFTP.

The open-source software remains a cross-platform tool compatible with Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, supporting a wide array of audio and video formats including MPEG, DivX, MKV, and FLAC.
