Vâlcea County Council seeks emergency 15 million lei for CET Govora

The Vâlcea County Council has requested an emergency allocation of 15 million lei from the Romanian government to support CET Govora. This amount is part of an estimated 40 million lei required to ensure the company's operations through March 2027.

Constantin Rădulescu, President of the Vâlcea County Council, stated that the funds are urgently needed as temperatures drop to maintain the supply of thermal energy and hot water in Râmnicu Vâlcea. The council has urged the government to consider an emergency budget rectification.

Local authorities warned that a failure to secure funding could disrupt services for approximately 10,000 apartments, affecting roughly 30,000 people. This includes nearly 9,800 children and various educational institutions. Additionally, local hospitals, which see between 1,500 and 2,000 patients daily, could face significant pressure without a reliable heat supply.
