VLEN criticizes North Macedonia independence funding

The political party VLEN has criticized the North Macedonian government over the funding of celebrations for the 35th anniversary of national independence. According to government data, the festivities cost approximately 5.53 million euros, with 300 million denars sourced from undistributed state lottery profits.

VLEN has accused the government of hypocrisy, noting that while the party previously opposed gambling in opposition, it is now utilizing lottery revenues to fund state celebrations. Additionally, the party raised concerns regarding the marginalization of ethnic Albanians in cultural festivities, pointing out that Tetovo's celebrations were scheduled a week later than the central events in Skopje.
