BDI accuses VLEN coalition of deception over party merger status

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) has accused the VLEN coalition of political deception regarding the merger of its constituent parties. BDI claims that official documents in the Central Register show that Alternativa continues to exist as a separate political entity, with Zekirija Berisha listed as its leader, rather than being fully integrated into VLEN.

BDI has raised questions regarding the legality and transparency of this leadership change, asking when and by what party organ Berisha was elected. They argue that the alleged merger is merely for propaganda and conferences, while the legal status of parties like BESA and Alternativa remains unchanged.

VLEN has responded by dismissing these accusations as political propaganda. The coalition maintains that the transition of its five political factors—Alternativa, BESA, Lëvizja Demokratike, Aleanca për Shqiptarët, and Vetëvendosje—into a single entity is a phased legal procedure being conducted in accordance with regulatory laws. VLEN stated that they did not run as a single registered party during local elections and that the legal integration is a gradual process.
