Vålerenga Fotball faces critical liquidity crisis

An internal financial memo from Vålerenga Fotball reveals a critical liquidity crisis facing the club. According to the document, the club is already struggling to meet certain ongoing payment obligations as they fall due, including payments to employees and suppliers.

The memo, dated June 30, warns that the situation is expected to persist and worsen throughout the second half of 2026. Despite previously stating that the club had control over its finances and liquidity, the updated forecast indicates that available funds will be insufficient to cover current liabilities.

Vålerenga Fotball, which manages the club's youth football and the women's top-tier team, had previously borrowed three million NOK from supporters to manage costs. The internal report emphasizes that immediate measures are required, including strengthening liquidity inflows, accelerating incoming payments, and reducing or postponing outgoing payments where possible.
