Vélez-Málaga extends outdoor terrace hours until October 4
The Department of Commerce and Industry of the Vélez-Málaga City Council has extended the special summer hours for outdoor terraces without awnings until October 4. Under this measure, hospitality establishments throughout the municipality may remain open until 2:00 a.m. seven days a week.
The decision follows a formal request from local business associations, including the Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs of Torre del Mar (ACET), to capitalize on tourist influx and economic activity surrounding the Real Feria de San Miguel. Local officials noted that the summer extension had functioned satisfactorily and aimed to support the local productive fabric during a key period for hospitality revenue.
While the extension is intended to boost the local economy, authorities stated they will monitor the impact on coexistence. In areas where repeated disturbances to residents are reported, the measure may be reversed to return to standard operating hours, ensuring compliance with municipal civility ordinances.
