VLI expands sorghum export routes to China from Minas Gerais

The cities of Araguari and Uberaba in Minas Gerais have joined new railway export routes for sorghum operated by VLI. Using the Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica (FCA), these shipments are destined for the Chinese market. Trains from Araguari travel via the East Corridor to the Port of Tubarão in Espírito Santo, while those from Uberaba use the Southeast Corridor toward the Port of Santos in São Paulo. As of September, more than 250,000 tons of sorghum had been shipped.

In a separate development, the Brazilian federal government, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy, is monitoring the Caldeira project in southern Minas Gerais. The project, located in the Poços de Caldas and Caldas region, is a major rare-earth clay initiative. The Australian company Lynas, a leading rare-earth producer outside of China, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Meteoric through a stock swap valued at approximately R$ 3.5 billion. The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) is evaluating its potential role as either a financier or partner in the project.
