VLI launches pig iron transport via Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica

VLI has launched a new pig iron transport operation via the Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica, destined for terminals managed by Vports in Espírito Santo. Developed in partnership with Vports and Multilift, the initiative involved a joint investment of R$ 130 million to strengthen the integration between rail and port infrastructure.

The new logistics flow connects production regions in Minas Gerais to the port system, allowing for the shipment of goods on vessels with capacities of up to 55,000 tons. The operation also includes a return flow of approximately 30,000 tons of coke per month, an input used in the construction industry. This bidirectional movement aims to improve logistical efficiency, optimize the use of railway assets, and reduce CO2 emissions per ton transported.
