Vlijmen fire brigade wins national championship

The Vlijmen fire brigade won the national championship in the 112 class during the national firefighter competitions held in Tholen, Zeeland. Out of 262 participating teams across the country, nine reached the final stage.

Participants were tested with a complex, realistic emergency scenario at the Duivendijk shipyard. The simulation involved a fire on a fishing boat spreading to gas cylinders, an explosion, an unconscious victim falling overboard, a worker with burns, and a person trapped under a boat on the quay. The Vlijmen team was deployed as the second pumper and successfully managed the fire, the gas cylinders, and the various victims.

The Haastrecht fire brigade, part of Brandweer Hollands Midden, also performed highly, securing third place in the national finals.
