Vline Buggy, influential French lyricist, dies at 97
Renowned French lyricist Vline Buggy has passed away at the age of 97. Her death was announced by Julien Lepers, a long-time collaborator, on behalf of her family.
Buggy was a central figure in French music, having written lyrics for many of the country’s most iconic performers, including Claude François, Johnny Hallyday, Michel Sardou, and France Gall. She is particularly noted for her prolific partnership with Claude François, with whom she co-wrote over 70 songs, including the 1962 hit ‘Belles ! Belles ! Belles !’.
Other notable works include ‘Le Pénitencier’ and ‘Pour le plaisir’. Singer Hugues Aufray also paid tribute to her impact on his early career. In 2018, Buggy was awarded the insignia of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
