Vlnky biscuits: The history and homemade revival of a nostalgic sweet

The iconic Vlnky biscuits, which were originally produced in Opava, Czech Republic, during the late 1950s and 1960s, have not been available in stores since 2011. According to Eva Železná from Mondelēz, the company that owns the Opavia brand, the discontinuation of production was due to declining consumer interest and the specialized baking molds required for the biscuits' unique wavy shape.

In response to the nostalgia for these sweets, Martina Gromová, known for her profile ‘Furt v kuchyni’, has shared a recipe to create a homemade version of the ‘grillážové Vlnky’. While there have been various attempts to bring the product back to market, a commercial return has not yet occurred.
