Vlorë Hebrew Museum faces architectural criticism

Architect Elis Baba has raised professional concerns regarding the construction of a new Hebrew Museum in Vlorë, Albania. The project is situated near the Ethnographic Museum, formerly the ‘Labëria’ Club, which is a Category I Cultural Monument.

Baba argues that the new intervention must be viewed within the context of the entire historical block rather than as an isolated plot. He emphasizes that in a historical zone, value is derived from the relationship between volumes, heights, and urban perspectives. The criticism suggests that the new structure risks distorting the existing architectural ensemble and the historical integrity of the Archaeological Zone ‘B’ if it does not properly dialogue with the surrounding monuments.
