Vlorë Sodo Forest Fire Engulfs Over 5 Hectares, Multiple Units Respond

A large fire broke out on Sunday afternoon in the Sodo Forest (Pylli i Sodës) on the outskirts of Vlorë, Albania. The blaze consumed more than five hectares of pine, spreading quickly under strong winds and high temperatures. Five separate fire spots were reported simultaneously, threatening nearby neighborhoods, businesses and the railway line near Zvërnec.

Firefighters from the Vlorë fire brigade, police, municipal services and the Rapid Intervention Forces (FNSH) from Fier worked alongside local residents and nearby restaurant staff. After more than three hours of coordinated effort, the main blaze was isolated and brought under control, though teams remain on standby because wind conditions could reignite residual hotspots.
