Vlora Çitaku says Kosovo indifferent to KLA leaders' Hague trial

Kosovo MP Vlora Çitaku, a member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, criticised the Kosovo government's handling of the trial of four former Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) commanders at the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague. She said the state has been "indifferent" to the defendants and warned that the court's decision on 16 September will be pivotal for the country's justice and dignity.

Çitaku also highlighted diplomatic pressure from Serbia and Russia, claiming both countries have mounted a large diplomatic campaign against the former KLA leaders. She further denounced the financial assistance provided for the defendants' legal defence, saying it does not meet the real needs of the process.
