Vlora Nimani-Hajnuni to lead Kosovo Medicines Agency

Vlora Nimani-Hajnuni, a former candidate for parliament from the Vetëvendosje movement and former advisor to the Minister of Justice, is expected to lead the Kosovo Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (AKPPM).

The agency has lacked a permanent leader for over eight years, operating under acting officials without additional staff recruitment. While Nimani-Hajnuni topped the recruitment list, reports indicate she did not perform well on the written exam, securing her position primarily through the interview stage.

Observers from the Institute for Democracy and Governance (IKD) have raised concerns regarding the potential politicization of the institution and possible conflicts of interest. Additionally, experts note that the agency faces significant challenges due to a long-term lack of staffing and operational efficiency.
