VMRO-DPMNE accuses SDSM of economic manipulation amid rising growth forecasts
The political party VMRO-DPMNE has accused the SDSM government of spreading panic through economic manipulation and misinformation. The opposition claims the ruling party lacks fundamental economic knowledge regarding the relationship between debt repayment and productive growth.
In contrast to the political criticism, recent international forecasts indicate positive economic trends for North Macedonia. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has increased its 2026 economic growth projection for the country to 3.5 percent. Similarly, the World Bank improved its 2026 growth forecast to 3.2 percent, up from a previous estimate of 2.9 percent.
VMRO-DPMNE highlighted that the economy has seen eight consecutive quarters of GDP growth exceeding 3 percent, with the second quarter of 2026 showing a real GDP growth of 4.3 percent. The party also noted that inflation is decreasing, citing State Statistical Office data from September showing a 0.0 percent inflation rate compared to August.
