VMRO-DPMNE challenges election results in Çellopek
The VMRO-DPMNE party has filed a complaint with the State Election Commission (KSHZ) seeking to annul voting results at polling station 2038 in the village of Çellopek. The challenge follows the local elections in Bërvenicë, where Arkin Jahiji of the National Alliance for Integration emerged as the winner with a 265-vote lead over VMRO-DPMNE candidate Stojanço Radičevski.
In the contested Çellopek polling station, 391 votes were cast for Jahiji, while Radičevski received only 13. The complaint reportedly concerns the voting process of an elderly woman who was accompanied by her son. If the KSHZ accepts the appeal, it could lead to a re-vote in that location. The outcome of this specific station is significant, as Jahiji holds a 378-vote advantage over Radičevski in this area alone.
Following the election results, political pressure is mounting within the governing coalition. Reports suggest VMRO-DPMNE is considering the possibility of calling for early parliamentary elections, potentially as early as April 25. This follows internal dissatisfaction regarding coalition partner support during the Bërvenicë election process.
