VMRO-DPMNE disputes SDSM claims regarding inflation and migrant workers

The VMRO-DPMNE party has issued a rebuttal to criticisms from the SDSM opposition, denying claims of imminent price hikes and a migrant influx. VMRO-DPMNE asserts that North Macedonia is making economic progress, citing a decrease in public debt and low inflation rates. They noted that according to Eurostat, the country recorded a 2.5% average annual inflation rate for the third quarter of 2026, the lowest in the region.

The political dispute also involves disagreements over the necessity of foreign labor. VMRO-DPMNE challenged SDSM's assertions regarding Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski's statements on the number of foreign workers needed for the economy. While SDSM claimed the Prime Minister suggested a need for over 100,000 foreign workers, the ruling party argues these figures are inaccurate and misrepresent previous statements made by government officials regarding economic migrant quotas.
