North Macedonia faces political tension over electoral reforms
North Macedonia is experiencing intense political friction between the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, led by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, and the opposition SDSM. The parties are engaged in a heated dispute over electoral law reforms, with SDSM accusing the government of attempting to manipulate the voting process through negotiations with the Levica party. Conversely, VMRO-DPMNE representatives claim that SDSM is sabotaging reforms necessary for EU integration.
Economically, Mickoski has reported that inflation in the country remains lower than the European average, citing figures of 2.3% in July and 2.6% in August. He also highlighted the launch of a major project by AD ESM to modernize hydroelectric plants to increase renewable energy production.
In local politics, VMRO-DPMNE candidate Stojanco Radicevski has presented infrastructure and digitalization projects for the Brvenica municipality. Meanwhile, SDSM has criticized the government's economic performance, alleging a significant drop in foreign investment and questioning the transparency of various state projects.
