VNeID integration of land use certificates to digitize real estate
Vietnam is advancing the integration of land use certificates (red books) into the VNeID application to digitize the real estate market. This initiative aims to reduce reliance on physical documents, minimize administrative procedures, and decrease the need for citizens to resubmit data already held by state agencies.
Experts note that while the move can help prevent the use of forged documents, users must still verify legal status, planning, and financial obligations during transactions. A primary challenge remains the accuracy and synchronization of data, as not all paper records have been fully digitized.
In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities are working to clean and standardize data for over 4 million land plots. The city has already achieved 100% connectivity between procedures involving financial obligations and electronic tax systems, and is working to further link notary, cadastral, and residential data to ensure seamless digital transactions.
