Vänsterpartiet may support Andreas Norlén for Speaker

The Left Party (Vänsterpartiet) is reportedly considering supporting the Moderate Party candidate, Andreas Norlén, in the upcoming vote for Speaker of the Riksdag on Monday. While the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterna) intend to nominate their own candidate, sources suggest the Left Party may opt to support Norlén to exert political pressure on Magdalena Andersson.

Political analysts suggest this move could be a strategic attempt by the Left Party to demonstrate independence from the Social Democrats and limit the time afforded to Andersson during government formation processes. Nooshi Dadgostar, leader of the Left Party, stated that a process is currently underway regarding their position.

Meanwhile, Social Democrat group leader Lena Hallengren has maintained that the Speaker position should go to the largest party, arguing that Norlén should be replaced by a Social Democrat.
