VNVC administers 100,000 hand, foot, and mouth disease vaccine doses in Vietnam

The VNVC vaccination system has administered over 100,000 doses of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) vaccines across nearly 300 centers in 31 Vietnamese provinces within just over two weeks of implementation. The rollout began on September 25, following a surge in cases.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has recorded more than 110,000 HFMD cases and nearly 10 deaths since the beginning of the year. The EV71 virus strain is noted as particularly dangerous, capable of causing severe neurological, cardiovascular, and respiratory complications. Medical experts, including Dr. Truong Huu Khanh, have emphasized that while environmental hygiene is important, vaccination is a critical tool to mitigate the risk of outbreaks and severe complications during the peak season of September to November.

In addition to the vaccinations, VNVC has provided nearly 3 billion VND in support to families registering for full vaccination regimens to ensure children complete the required doses according to their age.
