VOAK road project: Neapoli–Agios Nikolaos section delayed to September
The delivery of the first 10.2 km section of the Neapoli–Agios Nikolaos segment of the VOAK road project has been rescheduled for September. The project, being constructed by AKTOR, has a total value of €169 million.
Delays have been attributed to land expropriations, the relocation of public utility networks, and necessary study modifications that led to the redesign of critical sections. While the completion of the portion linked to the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) is set for August 31, 2026, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has moved the overall project completion date to October 30, 2027, a significant shift from the original September 2025 deadline.
Financial adjustments are also underway. Due to a court decision regarding property compensation units, expropriation costs have increased from €11.55 million to €18.55 million. Additionally, the total public expenditure for the project has been partially readjusted from €206.34 million to €201.38 million, involving an internal reallocation of funds.
