Vocational Training in Spain reaches record enrollment amid AI usage rise

Vocational Training (FP) in Spain is experiencing record growth, with 1,211,062 students enrolled for the 2025-2026 academic year, representing a 2.5% increase from the previous period. This growth is reflected across both intermediate and higher degrees, including significant enrollment in the Canary Islands.

Educational habits are shifting as students increasingly utilize artificial intelligence to make academic decisions. According to the PISA 2025 report, 54.1% of Spanish 15-year-olds use AI tools at least once a week for learning, a rate higher than the OECD and EU averages. Additionally, frequent use of ChatGPT among the Spanish population has risen from 4% in 2023 to 28% in 2025.

The sector is seeing high success rates due to its strong connection to the labor market. Educators note that the dual vocational training model, which combines classroom theory with practical workplace experience, has led to near-total job placement for graduates in certain centers, as companies increasingly seek specialized profiles to meet production needs.
