Vocational training shows high employment and educational advancement in Spain

Vocational training (FP) is demonstrating high efficacy in Spain, according to recent regional reports. In the Canary Islands, the accreditation of professional competencies is serving as a gateway to formal education. Approximately 10% of the 5,906 individuals enrolled in accreditation programs in 2025 subsequently enrolled in formal vocational training cycles, totaling 573 people.

In Cantabria, the 2024-2025 Labor Insertion Report for Vocational Training shows that over 85% of graduates are either employed or continuing their studies within a year of completion. Specifically, 55% were working and 31% were pursuing further education twelve months after graduating. The Energy and Water sector reported a 100% employment rate, followed by Wood, Furniture, and Cork at 87%.

Data from Cantabria indicates that of the 3,266 graduates, 52.2% were women. While participation is relatively balanced, officials noted the ongoing need to address gender gaps in traditionally gender-segregated professional families.
