VOCES8 to perform exclusively in Cairns at 2027 festival

VOCES8 Australian Festival of Chamber Music a cappella classical vocal group Cairns

The British a cappella ensemble VOCES8 is scheduled to make its only Australian appearance in 2027 at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) in Cairns.

Formed in 2005, the eight-person vocal group is one of the world’s most-streamed classical ensembles. The group’s accolades include winning the 2026 OPUS Klassik Award and receiving a Grammy nomination in 2023. AFCM artistic director Jack Liebeck noted that securing the group exclusively for the festival is a significant milestone for the event.

VOCES8 artistic director and countertenor Barnaby Smith expressed that performing at the festival is a tremendous honour, citing the international reputation of the event and the unique setting of the Cairns-Gimuy region.
