Vodafone España and Wewi Mobile clash over Finetwork brand

A legal and commercial dispute continues in Spain between Vodafone España and Wewi Mobile regarding the use of the Finetwork brand. Despite a legal deadline of October 10 that required Wewi Mobile to cease using the trademark, the operator continues to operate under the Finetwork.com domain.

This has resulted in an unusual market situation where two different entities are using the same brand name. Vodafone España has launched its own services under the Finetwork.es domain to assert its rights over the brand, which it acquired from Finetwork founder Pascual Pérez. While the “new” Finetwork (Vodafone) focuses on mobile packages, the “old” Finetwork (Wewi) maintains a broader range of services, including fiber and TV.

The conflict is multifaceted, involving not only trademark rights but also disputes over network rental payments. Wewi Mobile utilizes the fiber and mobile networks of Vodafone España, which is controlled by the British firm Zegona. Legal experts suggest that continued unauthorized use of the brand could lead to civil, administrative, or even criminal legal actions.
