Vodafone expands fiber and cable network reach in Germany

Vodafone Deutschland reported significant infrastructure expansions in September 2026, completing 147 modernization projects across 55 cities and municipalities. These efforts, which included 142 network segmentations and five Fiber-Deep measures, are expected to benefit approximately 53,000 households by improving network stability and capacity.

The company's total gigabit reach in Germany has grown to over 31.5 million households, representing roughly 77 percent of the population. This marks an increase of 67,000 connections compared to August.

In terms of pure fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) reach, Vodafone expanded its coverage by 116,000 connections to a total of 15.7 million. A major driver of this growth is the joint venture OXG, which now provides 2.1 million marketable connections. Additional growth is being driven by GigaGemeinde projects and partnerships. Recent OXG projects include expansions in Berlin-Reinickendorf, Hannover, Völklingen, Neuried, and Landshut.
