Vodafone expands mobile coverage on Czech railway lines
Vodafone is expanding mobile signal and high-speed internet coverage along major railway routes in the Czech Republic. The operator is currently completing projects on the Prague – Česká Třebová – Ostrava line, including a branch to Brno, addressing previous gaps in connectivity.
New coverage has been established in several locations, including Komárov, Prstná, Borky, Letoplast, Pustějov, Zámrsk, Milčice, Tatce, Choceň, Třebovice, Banín, and Lipník nad Bečvou. These infrastructure developments, carried out in collaboration with Vantage Towers, aim to improve voice and data services for residents and travelers.
In some areas, such as the historic center of Loket, the expansion required sensitive integration to protect cultural heritage. In Loket, antennas were placed in a baroque municipal building tower using camouflage coatings to maintain the town's character. In Komárov, a base station was installed on a municipal building to eliminate a known signal dead zone.
These projects have been supported by subsidies from the National Recovery Plan and involve cooperation with local municipalities and the Czech Telecommunication Office. Operators aim to build 158 such locations along railways by 2031.
