Vodafone Group report highlights connectivity as vital for climate resilience
Vodafone Group has released a new report titled ‘Connectivity: A Lifeline for Climate Resilience: Ensuring Climate Resilience in a Disrupted World’, highlighting the critical role of telecommunications infrastructure in climate adaptation. Drawing on experiences from Europe and Africa, the report emphasizes that connectivity is essential for maintaining links between people, services, and economies when other systems are under pressure from extreme weather events.
The report outlines a four-stage approach: ‘predict, prepare, respond, and recover’. It details how mobile networks and digital services support climate resilience through early warning systems, network preparedness, emergency response, digital aid, and long-term recovery efforts.
Released ahead of COP31, which will be hosted by Türkiye, the report contributes to the global agenda of building resilient cities and infrastructure. It aligns with the COP31 focus on ensuring critical systems—such as energy, transport, and communication—can operate without interruption despite increasing climate risks.
