Vodafone Idea launches free international roaming on select plans

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched a free international roaming service for select prepaid, postpaid, and enterprise customers. The company claims this initiative could save customers up to ₹9,000 annually by eliminating the need to purchase separate roaming packs.

The benefit is available on postpaid plans starting at ₹501, select annual prepaid unlimited data plans, and corporate plans starting at ₹451. Depending on the specific plan, eligible users can access international data and outgoing calling minutes for up to three trips per year across more than 170 countries.

Vi CEO Abhijit Kishore noted that international roaming has long been a significant inconvenience for travelers, often forcing them to rely on public Wi-Fi or disable mobile data entirely while abroad. This move comes as travel costs have risen due to inflation and increased airfares.
