Vodafone Idea narrows Q1 FY27 loss to Rs 3,754 crore

Vodafone Idea, India’s third-largest telecom operator, reported a narrowing net loss of Rs 3,754 crore for the first quarter of FY27, a significant improvement from the Rs 6,608 crore loss recorded in the same quarter last year.

Revenue for the quarter reached Rs 11,689 crore, representing a 6% year-on-year increase. The company’s EBITDA rose to Rs 5,034 crore, up 9.1% year-on-year. Average revenue per user (ARPU) grew to Rs 195, up from Rs 177 in Q1 FY26, which the company noted as the highest in the industry.

The company also reported its first quarter of net subscriber additions since its merger, reaching a total base of 193.1 million. Its 4G/5G subscriber count rose to 130.1 million. CEO Abhijit Kishore stated that the performance validates the company’s strategy, noting that 5G services are now live in over 200 cities.

Regarding finances, Vodafone Idea’s bank debt stood at Rs 211 crore as of June 30, 2026, while its cash and bank balance reached Rs 6,558 crore. The company is looking to raise fresh debt to support a planned capital expenditure of Rs 45,000 crore over the next three years.
