Vodafone Portugal completes 71 innovation pilots under PRR funding

Vodafone Portugal announced the completion of 71 technology‑pilot projects developed with startups, SMEs, research centres and public entities. The pilots were carried out within three Test Beds and the ROUTE 25 mobilising agenda, all funded by the national Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR).

Sixty‑one of the projects were executed in the Vodafone Boost Lab consortium, led by Vodafone together with Capgemini and Ericsson, surpassing the contractual target of 59 pilots. The remaining ten projects were split between the ED‑X (Data Space X) Test Bed, aligned with Gaia‑X data‑sovereignty standards, and the ITeCS health‑care innovation platform.

The validated solutions span artificial intelligence, analytics, Internet of Things, cloud and edge computing, system integration, automation, cybersecurity and digital health. Notable examples include real‑time environmental monitoring tools, post‑quantum‑ready cybersecurity systems and an AI‑driven operational‑security platform. In health care, the Vodafone Care Tracker, co‑developed with the Sociedade Portuguesa de Esclerose Múltipla (SPEM), demonstrated remote patient monitoring in a live environment.
