Vodafone tests new MB2 antenna technology in Istanbul

Vodafone has successfully tested a new Multi-Band Multi-Beam (MB2) Radio Link antenna solution on its live network in Istanbul. This technology allows multiple Radio Link connections to be managed through a single smart antenna, rather than requiring separate antennas for every individual connection.

This innovation aims to reduce the physical antenna load on base station towers by approximately 70% compared to traditional installations. By simplifying network architecture, the solution increases installation efficiency and provides greater flexibility for 5G deployment, regardless of tower placement constraints.

Erhan Eraydın, Vice President of Vodafone Turkey, stated that the MB2 solution is a significant step toward providing faster, more resilient, and more widespread connectivity. The technology is expected to support Turkey’s digital transformation by enabling more efficient capacity deployment as 5G traffic increases.
