Vodovod Banja Luka warns of potential water supply disruptions
The water utility company Vodovod Banja Luka has issued a warning regarding the heavy load on its water factory and well system. The company reported that key equipment is operating under extreme stress, which could jeopardize the water supply for Banja Luka, surrounding Kozara villages, and parts of Laktaši and Čelinac.
A critical issue is that four pumps at the water intake are currently running continuously without the scheduled rest periods required by the system's design. Additionally, an aging transformer station is operating at maximum capacity. While some recent investments have been made to replace older equipment, much of the infrastructure remains decades old, with some pumps dating back to 1975.
Vodovod warned that any failure of a single pump or a malfunction at the Novoselija drinking water pumping station could lead to significant reductions in water supply for consumers.
