Vogelsberg firefighters undergo specialized rail rescue training

Twenty-seven firefighters from the Vogelsberg district participated in a specialized eight-hour training session at the Deutsche Bahn InfraGo repair plant in Fulda. The training focused on fire suppression and technical assistance during rail vehicle accidents, specifically preparing personnel to serve as “portal fire departments” for emergencies on ICE high-speed rail lines.

The session included theoretical instruction and intensive practical exercises, such as transporting injured persons and maneuvering stretchers through the narrow corridors of a Deutsche Bahn rescue train (RTZ). The training took place under extreme weather conditions, with outdoor temperatures reaching approximately 38 degrees Celsius.
