Vogelsbergkreis social services provide assistance for stationary care

The 'Hilfe zur Pflege' (Assistance for Care) department within the Vogelsbergkreis Office for Social Affairs and Foreigners' Rights in Lauterbach provides critical financial support for individuals requiring stationary care. Sachbearbeiterin Luisa Schmadel explains that the service is often sought by family members when the costs of professional care exceed personal savings and pensions.

To qualify for assistance, applicants must have at least a care level of 2. Financial eligibility is strictly regulated: assets must not exceed 10,000 euros for single individuals or 20,000 euros for married couples. Schmadel notes that the process is often a difficult transition for families who have never previously relied on social assistance.

Challenges arise particularly when individuals become suddenly unable to care for themselves without a power of attorney in place. In such cases, legal guardianship must be established through the courts, a process that can take several months, complicating immediate decision-making and administrative needs.
