Voghera Fotografia festival celebrates 200 years of photography

The seventh edition of the National Voghera Fotografia festival is scheduled to take place from September 12 to 27 at the Castello Visconteo. Promoted by the Spazio 53 – Visual Imaging APS association in collaboration with the Municipality of Voghera, the event marks the bicentenary of the invention of photography by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826.

This year's theme focuses on the evolution of the image, exploring the connection between historical origins and contemporary transformations. The festival aims to address the impact of modern technology, specifically discussing the role of artificial intelligence in creating synthetic realities compared to traditional photographic techniques.

The festival is directed by Arnaldo Calanca, with artistic direction and curation by Michele Dalla Palma. Organizers intend for this edition to serve as a starting point for ongoing cultural reflections on memory, technological evolution, and new visual languages.
