Vogue Gala celebrates Day of the Dead and female muralism

The Vogue Gala, held at the Colegio de San Ildefonso in Mexico City, celebrated Day of the Dead by merging high fashion with Mexican traditions. The event featured a theme titled “Monumental Spirit: Views of Female Muralism,” paying homage to pioneering women artists, specifically Aurora Reyes, a Mexican muralist.

Designer Dan Cassab presented a new collection, “Playing with Goddesses,” inspired by Reyes’s work and the legacy of women in art. The collection included leather jackets with fringes and hand-embroidered wool coats. Actress Yalitza Aparicio attended the gala wearing a chocolate-colored gown by designer Neithan Herbert, which was specifically designed as a visual tribute to Reyes’s artistic energy and historical impact.

Other notable attendees included Jessica Alba, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Renata Notni, and Mabel Cadena. The celebration emphasized the intersection of cultural identity, fashion, and the recognition of female contributions to Mexican muralism.
