Asami Yaguchi, voice actress for Tamagotchi and Gintama, dies at 47
Japanese voice actress Asami Yaguchi has passed away at the age of 47. Her talent agency, Kenyū Office, announced on September 28 that she died suddenly on Saturday, September 26, due to heart failure.
Yaguchi was a prominent figure in the anime and video game industries, known for her versatile voice work. Her most notable roles included Kuchipatchi in the ‘Tamagotchi’ franchise, the young Sakata Gintoki in ‘Gintama’, and Haruo in ‘Doraemon’. Her extensive credits also spanned video games such as ‘Fire Emblem Heroes’, ‘Arknights’, and the ‘Super Robot Wars’ series.
Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1979, Yaguchi trained at the Yoyogi Animation Academy and the 81 Produce Acting Institute. Her agency expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing her as a bright and caring individual who had supported the company since its early days. Per her family's wishes, funeral services will be held privately.
