Voice of the People's Party raises funds at Shillong rally

The Voice of the People's Party (VPP) held a large-scale rally at Polo Ground in Shillong to support its candidate, Dr. Batskhem Myrboh, ahead of the Shillong Lok Sabha by-election. The event drew more than 10,000 attendees.

During the rally, the VPP raised Rs 3.07 lakh through crowdfunding. Party president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit emphasized the party's commitment to a distinct political approach, stating that the VPP does not provide financial inducements, such as cash or food, to encourage attendance at meetings. Basaiawmoit noted that the turnout reflects public trust and voluntary engagement with the party's platform.

Candidate Batskhem Myrboh stated that the donations demonstrate a commitment to clean politics and democratic principles. Myrboh argued that political support should be earned through engagement on public issues and connection with voters rather than through financial incentives. The VPP intends to maintain this funding and campaigning model leading into the 2028 Meghalaya Assembly elections.
