VoIP providers top IT survey as AVoIP simplifies meeting rooms

A survey of 236 IT professionals ranked VoIP providers, with Ooma receiving the strongest recommendation and overall satisfaction. Sangoma was praised for call quality and cost transparency but flagged for security and compliance concerns. Zoom placed fourth in user satisfaction, while 3CX earned a higher recommendation score but lagged in satisfaction. RingCentral and Mitel rounded out the top six, each noted for scalability but with areas for improvement such as cost transparency.

An accompanying explainer describes AVoIP (Audio‑Visual over IP) as the next step in meeting‑room technology, moving cameras, microphones and speakers onto a single Ethernet cable with Power over Ethernet. This reduces cabling, installation time and cost, and eases scaling across multiple rooms. Cisco’s Desk Pro and other solutions illustrate the shift, while planners are reminded to account for PoE budget and switch capacity when expanding deployments.
